Benny Goodman’s debut, ‘Past Perfect CD4, In A Sentimental Mood’, does not fit easily into one genre. Lead single “(I Would Do) Anything for You” and “Down South Camp Meeting” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Down South Camp Meeting is a fine track on any terms. Here’s Love In Your Eyes sets the tone for the entire album. I know That You Know is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. I’ve Found A New Baby (2:09) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! In A Sentimental Mood has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. When I listen to Pick Yourself Up in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Remember is a gorgeous sing-along. All of songs on Past Perfect CD4, In A Sentimental Mood and have something to say letting alone Sing Me A Swing Song (And Let Me Dance). Some of the arrangements found on Past Perfect CD4, In A Sentimental Mood are surprisingly edgy. Stardust - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Swingtime In The Rockies is a astounding song and it grows on you. The Glory Of Love great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Benny Goodman has astounded me with this amazing track. I have all of Benny Goodman’s tracks and These Foolidh Things remind Me of You is probably the most his introspective effort. Walk, Jenni, Walk is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. You Turned The Tables On Me is the song that really did it for me.
