For older fans Stompin’ At The Savoy will put a massive smile accross your face. This album has some very good songs like It’s Been So Long and If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight). Now signed to Benny Goodman’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Stompin’ At The Savoy” leads Benny Goodman’s back-to-school campaign. Stompin’ At The Savoy is not something you should pass up.
If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight) is another strong production from Benny Goodman. After few listenings I started to like Goody-Goody more and more. Good-bye is one of the coolest songs Benny Goodman has ever recorded. Get Happy to me is the best you can get from Benny Goodman. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. All of songs on Stompin’ At The Savoy and have something to say letting alone Breakin’ In A Pair of Shoes. Stompin’ At The Savoy couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Basin Street Blues. (You Got Me In Between) The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea I just LOVE this mix! I can’t stop humming along Jingle Bells. King Porter Stomp is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. No Other One is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Madhouse the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Although Sandman is very melodic it is far from sad. Santa Clause Came In The Spring is a bit of a show-tune. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Stompin’ At The Savoy catches attention immediately, When Buddha Smiles gives good insight into the truths. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
