Since completing 2007’s ‘Sospiro (Bardo State)’, Various Artists fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. Buddha Bar Vol. 9 is an amazing album, racked with beauty. While no new Various Artists album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2007 tour in South America. This is my first Various Artists Album and i must say i am blown away.
Flight Ba0247 (Mystic Diversions) (3:36) a good melody. Although Sleep (Amanaska) is very melodic it is far from sad. In Yes Boss (Hess Is More) Various Artists spins a tale you want to hear to the end. The song feels complete. The opening track Mongolia On The Line (Eccodek) is very much like you would expect from other albums. When listening to Wood Street (Serafim Tsotsonis), it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Charming song, great melody. Essence Of Our Origins (The Lushlife Project) is the most memorable and perfect. A great put together song. Iceflowers (York Feat. Asheni) without a doubt is the standout song of Buddha Bar Vol. 9. Various Artists has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Sunday (Nikonn) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Musically Bugu Jazz (Burhan Ocal) is superior to other tracks in Buddha Bar Vol. 9. Mrs Daisy May (Sunset Blvd.) - I like this one. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Buddha Bar Vol. 9. Les DJinns (Trentemoller Remix) (Djuma Soundsystem) one is one of the better boring ones. I listened to the opening track As The Day Breaks (Montreal Remix) (Carmen Rizzo Feat. Grant Lee Phillips) and liked it a lot. This track is clearly meant to showcase Various Artists’s vocal abilities. In Africa (Quicksound/Alain Vinet Remix) (Cirque Du Soleil) you won’t find any flashy solos. Roots 4 Acid (Rocco) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Last Chance (Passion Of Percussion) presents the exquisite mix of instruments on Buddha Bar Vol. 9. Machete (Novalima) is a great opener for Buddha Bar Vol. 9. Vocals of Various Artists in Chambermaid Swing (Parov Stelar) really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Amor Que Se Baila (Otros Aires) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Buddha Bar Vol. 9 have ended. Put Gypsy Majik (Gypsy Lounge Vocal Remix) (Naked Rhythm) into car stereo for your highway driving Loneliness (Chill House Mix) (Blank & Jones) is another favourite of mine. Indusufi (Bahramji Feat. Mashti) is probably the highlight of the album. Various Artists has astounded me with this amazing track.
