This is one of the best Cd’s Various Artists has dropped to date. I am not a real Pop music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Canzonetta Italiana’ really is amazing. For older fans Canzonetta Italiana will put a massive smile accross your face. This is what good Pop should be.
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Io mi fermo qui (Dik Dik) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Vado via (Drupi) is simply amazing. La pioggia (G. Cinquetti) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. In Zingara (I. Zanicchi) you won’t find any flashy solos. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. 4/3/1943 (Lucio Dalla) good vocals. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Within the first few notes of I giorni dell’arcobaleno (N. Di Bari) it’s perfectly clear that Various Artists is living this song. Che freddo fa (Nada) (2:59) - awsome. La prima cosa bella (Nicola di Bari) is one of the best records ever. Voice of Various Artists in La spada nel cuore (Patty Bravo) is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I cuore uno zingaro (Patty Bravo) is Various Artists’s best work in years. Various Artists is hitting on all cylinders in Un grande amore e niente pi (Peppino di Capri). Che sara (Ricchi e poveri) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. This track is full of harmonies and gets Canzonetta Italiana off to a relaxing start. Larca di Noe (S. Endrigo) is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music.
