Various Artists had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. On the Singapore charts, superstar Various Artists’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. I am not a real Pop music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Club Sounds Vol.18 (cd1)’ really is amazing. Such great and happy songs.
Listening to Stanley (Here I am) (Wippenberg short mix) (Airheadz) you can hear that Various Artists has still amazing chemistry with band members. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Do it (single cut) (Sunbeam) have really caught my ear and imagination. The sound of Star 69 (clean edit) (Fatboy Slim) is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. By my side (radio edit) (Undee) is simple, dignified and effective, Various Artists refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I now have My beat (Ambassador radio edit) (Blaze feat. Palmer Brown) as one of my personal favorites. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Various Artists. Can’t keep me silent (radio edit) (Angelic) make listening to Various Artists like being in some sort of time warp. Never look back (Dumonde radio edit) makes a person feel perfect. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Unsolved mysteries (video version) (Kay Cee) - For me, this is the best of the album. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. A unique and uplifting song. After few listenings I started to like Mauro Picotto - Like this like that (on air mix) more and more. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. DJs, Fans & Freaks (D.F.F.) (short cut) (Blank & Jones) - This is a very lively song. When listening to 10 in 01 (short) (Members of Mayday), it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Turn the tide (radio edit) (Sylver) - a classic song.
