It has been sixteen years Various Artists’ last studio CD, “Danna Gillespie - BBC - Where Blue begins - Jam 1″ which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. On Danna Gillespie - BBC - Where Blue begins - Jam 1 album, Various Artists have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Various Artists had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Various Artists ever.
Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I find myself hearing bits of Lightning bolt (Luther Allison) here and there throughout my waking hours. Once Both ends of the road (Long John Hunter) gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Use me (Junior Wells) is the first taste of the new album. Music in Chill Out (John Lee Hooker) is amazing as in all tracks of Danna Gillespie - BBC - Where Blue begins - Jam 1. It’s man’s, man’s, man’s, world (James Brown) is probably the highlight of the album. Excellent vocals and musical performances. No Various Artists song has come close to capturing my attention as I’d rather go blind (Etta James) did. Where blue begins (Danna Gillespie) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Various Artists ever produced. Tabacco road (Bill Wayman) is another strong production from Various Artists. Vocals of Various Artists in Nobody knows you (Bessie Smith) really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Blue blues (Bessie Smith) - A catchy, upbeat tune. The thrill is gone (B.B.King) is perfect. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly.
