Since completing 1968’s ‘The Sandpipers - Quando m’innamoro(1968-6)’, Various Artists fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Various Artists’s debut, ‘Festival di Sanremo (1951-1971) cd5′, does not fit easily into one genre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Various Artists on ‘The Sandpipers - Quando m’innamoro(1968-6)’. This is what good Pop should be.
Still going through Festival di Sanremo (1951-1971) cd5 and coming to appreciate Massimo Ranieri - Da bambino(1968-7) more and more with every listen. Dino - Gli occhi miei(1968-11) - For me, this is the best of the album. Dionne Warwick - La voce del silenzio(1968-14) is possibly the best song Various Artists has come up. he Rokes - Le Opere Di Bartolomeo(1968-F) is amazing song though, very addictive. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Iva Zanicchi - Zingara(1969-1) - To me, this is the best song on the Festival di Sanremo (1951-1971) cd5. This song stands out greatly from the others. Sergio Endrigo - Lontano dagli occhi(1969-2) is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Although Don Backy - Un sorriso(1969-3) is very melodic it is far from sad. Fausto Leali - Un’ora fa(1969-4) make listening to Various Artists like being in some sort of time warp. Nada - Ma che freddo fa(1969-5) - This one makes me want to not only sing along. It took me a little time but I ended up loving The Rokes - Ma che freddo fa(1969-5). France Gall - La pioggia(1969-6) is a amazing sing-along. Gigliola Cinquetti - La pioggia(1969-6) is one of my favorite songs by Various Artists. Caterina Caselli - Il gioco dell’amore(1969-8) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Lucio Battisti - Un’avventura(1969-9) is such a marvelous and optimistic song that things can get just better. Little Tony - Bada bambina(1969-12) presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Festival di Sanremo (1951-1971) cd5. Rita Pavone - Zucchero(1969-13) (2:57) a good melody. Adriano Celentano - Chi non lavora non fa l’amore(1970-1) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Festival di Sanremo (1951-1971) cd5 have ended.
