It has been three years Various Artists’ last studio CD, “La Maxi Boite Des Annee 80 Vol.9″ which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. I am not a real Pop music type of person, but i have to admit ‘La Maxi Boite Des Annee 80 Vol.9′ really is amazing. It’s natural for Various Artists to take a stab at ‘Paris Latino (12” Version) (Bandolero)’ considering her long-professed love for U2. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
After you’ve listened to Quel Souci La Boetie ! (Extended Version) (Claudia Philips), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. John (extended version) (Desireless) is nothing but pure genius. Simple and heartfelt closing track Love Come Down (Extended Version) (Evelyn King) closes La Maxi Boite Des Annee 80 Vol.9 on a high note. Land Of Confusion (Extended Version) (Genesis) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. I like Fotonovela (Extended Version) (Ivan) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. I like the idea behind Fresh (disco mix) (Kool and the gang). Various Artists must have run out of lyrics on the next track Holiday Rap (MC Miker G & DJ Sven). Heaven Must Have Sent You (Pointer Sisters) is the albums biggest surprise. I believe Shake It Up (Do The Boogaloo) (Rod) is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. Such A Shame (Extended Version) (Talk Talk) marked the continuation of Various Artists in style evolution. The Magnificent Seven (Extended Version) (The Clash) - Various Artists first major hit. Musically dance hall days (Extended Version) (Wang Chung) is superior to other tracks in La Maxi Boite Des Annee 80 Vol.9. In The Riddle (Special extended mix) (nick kershaw) you won’t find any flashy solos.
