Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Various Artists on ‘Light are on but nobody’s home (Albert Collins)’. Since completing 0’s ‘Light are on but nobody’s home (Albert Collins)’, Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is the first studio album from Various Artists since bad diagnosis in 0. Such great and happy songs.
Summer in the sity (B.B.King) - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. If you are a Various Artists fan, you will love Whiskey, Beer and Reffer (Billy Boy Arnold). She’s out there somewere (Buddy Guy) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. The first time I listened to Did you ever (Jimmy Rushing) I was struck by its excellent sound. Don’t look back (John Lee Hooker) - This is a very lively song. When I listen to Don’t you lie to me (Junior Wells) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Just memories (Luther Allison) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Within the first few notes of Nobody but you (Luther Allison) it’s perfectly clear that Various Artists is living this song. The opening track Litte Red Rooster (Otis Rush) is very much like you would expect from other albums. You got me running (Otis Rush) is perfect. You won’t see me anymore (Peter Green) - For me, this is the best of the album.
