When you buy a Various Artists album, you know exactly what you’re getting! There were many famous songs of Various Artists available. This is one of the best Cd’s Various Artists has dropped to date. I wish that “Sacred Hindu Chants Vol Ii” album was instrumental.
Vakratunda Mahakay have really caught my ear and imagination. Surya Prarthana is exquisite work of Various Artists. First time I heard Om Astomaa Sadgamayat was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. This track is full of harmonies and gets Sacred Hindu Chants Vol Ii off to a relaxing start. Gayatri Stuti is a strong cut, one of many. Mahamrityinjay Mantra sets the tone for the entire album. Shiv Awahanam is the albums biggest surprise. Don’t judge Ram Stuti on the first listening. I like to sing along with Shri Ramachandra Kripalu, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. You have to get essence of the Vighnavinayak Stotra’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Krishna Aawahan is a song to enjoy for years to come. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Devi Stuti is the most memorable and cool. Various Artists sings Bhavanyashtkam in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Indrakrit Mahalakshmi Stotra is the more seemingly obscure song on Sacred Hindu Chants Vol Ii that bear up best to repeated listening. Vishnu Aawahan presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Sacred Hindu Chants Vol Ii. This track is clearly meant to showcase Various Artists’s vocal abilities. After about the third Shantipaath listen through, I began to believe this song is Various Artists’s essence. Get Sacred Hindu Chants Vol Ii and turn on Omkar Sadhana if you are going to sip your wine late at night.
