‘Sanremo 1954′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It has been six years Various Artists’ last studio CD, “Sanremo 1954″ which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. six years ago, Various Artists briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Canzone da due soldi (Achille Togliani)”. This is what good Pop should be.
Sanremo 1954 couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Canzone da due soldi (Achille Togliani). E La Barca Torn Sola (Franco Ricci) is astounding. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. So much energy, so exciting a sound. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Various Artists. Sotto L’Ombrello (Katyna Ranieri & Giorgio Consolini) is a fine track on any terms. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Con te (Achille Togliani & Flo Sandon’s) is one of the best records ever. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Donnina Sola (Natalino Otto) is my favorite song on Sanremo 1954.
