Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Various Artists on ‘Bimba mia (Umberto Napolitano)’. Various Artists was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Various Artists and Sanremo 1979 together. Various Artists’s debut, ‘Sanremo 1979′, does not fit easily into one genre. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
I now have La pioggia, il sole (Roberta) as one of my personal favorites. After about the third Il Diario Dei Segreti (Opera) listen through, I began to believe this song is Various Artists’s essence. Grande mago (Nicoletta Bauce) presents the excellent mix of instruments on Sanremo 1979. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Sanremo 1979 couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track In due (Michele Vicino). Napule cagnarra - (Massimo Abbate) is the first taste of the new album. Autunno, cadono le pagine gialle (Marinella) one of the best in my collection. New York (Lorella Pescerelli) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. C’era un’atmosfera (Kim & The Cadillalcs) is a strong cut, one of many. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Tu fai schifo sempre (I Pandemonium) pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Once Liana (I Grimm) gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. When I listen to Talismano nero (Gianni Mocchetti) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Overall a nice softer song. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Sara’ un fiore (Enrico Beruschi) is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. After few listenings I started to like La gente parla (Collage) more and more. Musically Ciao Barbarella (Ciro Sebastianelli) is superior to other tracks in Sanremo 1979. 08 Quell attimo in piu (Camaleonti) is probably one of Various Artists’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Ayx Disco (3:00) - awsome. This track is just a stunning masterpiece.
