Southern Strings carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lead single “Padavi Nee Sadbhakti (V Doreswamy Iyengar)” and “Vachama Gocharame (V Doreswamy Iyengar)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Various Artists’s debut, ‘Southern Strings’, does not fit easily into one genre. Southern Strings touched my soul like nothing else.
This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Southern Strings. Simple and heartfelt closing track Tillana (V Doreswamy Iyengar) closes Southern Strings on a high note. Nike Dayaraka (T N Krishnan) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Southern Strings. Such hits like Karunimpa (N Ravikiran) will leave you hooked. Vallabha Nayakasya (N Ravikiran) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Smara Janaka (N Ravikiran) is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Various Artists released so far. Gananayakam (U Srinivas) is one of the best records ever. The song feels complete. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly.
