Various Artists’s debut, ‘Stereophonics - MTV Alterzone’, does not fit easily into one genre. Now signed to Various Artists’s Savoy Records, the title track from second album “Stereophonics - MTV Alterzone” leads Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. Stereophonics - MTV Alterzone is an amazing album, racked with beauty.I greatly enjoyed this CD.
With arms wide open (Creed) is probably one of Various Artists’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. I can’t move (Everlast) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. I hope to keep hearing Various Artists works for a long time to come. There is exquisite mix of music in Take a picture (Filter). In Gone with the sin (HIM) full palet of sound is used by Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. Various Artists sings Drive (Incubus) in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Get Stereophonics - MTV Alterzone and turn on Run to the water (Live) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Protection (Massive Attack). I can’t stop humming along Fear and love (Morcheeba). Angelene (P.J. Harvey) is nothing but pure genius. One listen to the sheer beauty of Berger queen (Placedo) was all I needed. Glory box (Protishead) without a doubt is the standout song of Stereophonics - MTV Alterzone. Various Artists offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Karma police (Radiohead), which shows, blatantly, how much Various Artists has evolved as a singer. After few listenings I started to like Ana’s song (Silverchair) more and more. Secretly (Skunk Anansie) is a bit of a show-tune. Mr.Writer (Stereophonics) makes a person feel exquisite.
