This disc has all of the essential Various Artists classics. The Network - NHL05 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Various Artists energies, virtually a rebirth. This album is a scorcher!
One listen to the sheer beauty of Heart Full of Black (Burning Brides) was all I needed. Time To Go (Dropkick Murphys) is one of the best records ever. Various Artists sings From Out Of Nowhere (Faith No More) in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand) to me is the best you can get from Various Artists. Fool The World (Hazen Street) is absolutely incredible. After few listenings I started to like Radio Up (Letter Kills) more and more. Charming song, great melody. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Memory (Sugarcult) is a song to enjoy for years to come. I have all of Various Artists’s tracks and Karmageddon (TSOOL) is probably the most his introspective effort. Roshambo (The Network) is a perfect, simple song by Various Artists at the top of his game.
