For older fans THE WORLD will put a massive smile accross your face. On the Holland charts, superstar BENNIE K’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Since completing 2007’s ‘Opening’, BENNIE K fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like THE WORLD.
Joy Trip is amazing song though, very addictive. Passista De Samba is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Satisfaction is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Interlude gives good insight into the truths. In The House sets the tone for the entire album. After you’ve listened to Lie!?, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. 1001Nights - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of BENNIE K. Echo has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets BENNIE K’s strong vocals come to the fore. Matador Love is simple, dignified and effective, BENNIE K refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Album opener Safari is a bright, upbeat ditty. Interlude - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. I can’t stop playing B. Around THE World (Reprise) is outstanding work of BENNIE K. One listen to the sheer beauty of Con was all I needed.
