one years ago, Chico Buarque briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “As Minhas Meninas”. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Chico Buarque’s album Francisco falls to No. 2 with 686,000, a sales slide of 51%. This album has some very good songs like O Velho Francisco and As Minhas Meninas. I wish that “Francisco” album was instrumental.
As Minhas Meninas the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I now have Uma Menina as one of my personal favorites. Esta Derradeira is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Chico Buarque released so far. Bancarrota Blues pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Tudo O Sentimento is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. All of songs on Francisco and have something to say letting alone Lola. CadocLeila XIV) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Cantado No Tor is the song that really did it for me.
