On the China charts, superstar Chico Buarque’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. It has been ten years Chico Buarque’ last studio CD, “Quando O Carnaval Chegar” which won Array Academy Awards� and was nominated for album of the year. On Quando O Carnaval Chegar album, Chico Buarque have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Mambembe and Baioque is really good.
Baioque - I just love it. Album opener Cacada is a bright, upbeat ditty. Mais Uma Estrela has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Chico Buarque’s strong vocals come to the fore. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Voice of Chico Buarque in Minha Embaixada Chegou is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. This song stands out greatly from the others. Mambembe good vocals. A fantastic track full of wonder. Blew our minds when we first heard Partido Alto. Bom Conselho is gorgeous and different song. Frevo is perfect. This song may be the most meaningful.
