It’s natural for Chico Buarque to take a stab at ‘Festa Imodesta’ considering her long-professed love for 2 Unlimited. Self-described as Latin with lots of words, Chico Buarque comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. There is no doubt that Chico Buarque has talent. Sinal Fechado touched my soul like nothing else.
Opening track Copo Vazio shows the best of Chico Buarque. Get Sinal Fechado and turn on Filosofia if you are going to sip your wine late at night. I find myself hearing bits of O Filho Que Eu Quero Ter here and there throughout my waking hours. Cuidado Com A Outra is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Although Acorda Amor is very melodic it is far from sad. Ligia gets you up and jumping. Sem Compromisso is beautiful, yet underrated track. Voce Nao Sabe Amar is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Me Deixe Mudo is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Sinal Fechado - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love.
