Since Oscar Peterson last CD (Jazz and Blues) on Blue Note Records back in 0, I have felt a massive void in my life. Now signed to Oscar Peterson’s Blue Note Records, the title track from second album “Jazz and Blues” leads Oscar Peterson’s back-to-school campaign. ‘Jazz and Blues’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Jazz and Blues is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
The sound in Always is really warm and Oscar Peterson’s signature voice is still very much present. Soft winds is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. The surrey with the fringe on top is a perfect song and it grows on you. Album opener Bewitched, bothered and bewildered is a bright, upbeat ditty. Listening to These foolish things you can hear that Oscar Peterson has still amazing chemistry with band members. Oscar Peterson emotions are reflected through I cover the waterfront. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Oscar Peterson. It’s a great pleasure to listen to You are too beautiful from the beginning to the end. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Voice of Oscar Peterson in September in the rain is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I believe Lullaby of the leaves is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Laura is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Jazz and Blues have ended. Get Jazz and Blues and turn on On The Alamo if you are going to sip your wine late at night.
