Mucho Barato… isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It has been nine years Control Machete’ last studio CD, “Mucho Barato…” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Comprendes Mendes? marked the continuation of Control Machete in style evolution. Andamos Armados - another great track from the Mucho Barato… album. Humanos Mexicanos as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Cheve presents the exquisite mix of instruments on Mucho Barato…. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Te Aprovechas Del Limite? is another favourite of mine. Justo’n is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. The sound in La Lupita is really warm and Control Machete’s signature voice is still very much present. Grin-Gosano is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is El Son Divo. After few listenings I started to like Mexican Curios more and more.
