After seeing Black Mountain Rag, I had to have a good Nitty Gritty Dirt Band cd. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s album Will The Circle Be Unbroken I (Disc 1) falls to No. 2 with 903,000, a sales slide of 55%. This album has some very good songs like Black Mountain Rag and Dark As A Dungeon. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Nitty Gritty Dirt Band ever.
Dark As A Dungeon has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. I was truly moved when I heard Grand Ole Opry Song. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. I Saw The Light is the song that really did it for me. All of songs on Will The Circle Be Unbroken I (Disc 1) and have something to say letting alone Keep On The Sunny Side. Losin’ You (Might Be The Best Thing Yet) is simple, dignified and effective, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Simple and heartfelt closing track My Walkin’ Shoes closes Will The Circle Be Unbroken I (Disc 1) on a high note. Nashville Blues is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Nine Pound Hammer is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Sunny Side Of The Mountain one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Tennesse Stud - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Such hits like The End Of The World will leave you hooked. The Precious Jewel without a doubt is the standout song of Will The Circle Be Unbroken I (Disc 1). The Wreck On The Highway stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This song stands out greatly from the others. I like the idea behind You Don’t Know My Mind.
