There were many famous songs of The Whispers available. five years ago, The Whispers briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “My Girl”. Since completing 1979’s ‘Song For Donny’, The Whispers fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
My Girl gives taste of what makes The Whispers special as a musician. Lady is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. I listened to the opening track Can You Do The Boogie and liked it a lot. Simple and heartfelt closing track And The Beat Goes On closes The Whispers on a high note. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Out The Box is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Welcome Into My Dream as a highlight of The Whispers contains a ton of astounding melodies. Lady (7”) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. The opening track Out The Box (7”) is very much like you would expect from other albums. My Girl (7”) - This one is lively and fun. Such hits like And The Beat Goes On (12” Remix) will leave you hooked.
