Part One Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Kinks’s album Part One Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround falls to No. 2 with 181,000, a sales slide of 51%. This disc has all of the essential Kinks classics. IT makes me wanna dance!
Strangers is a cool song and it grows on you. I think Denmark Street is the best song Kinks has ever done. Don’t judge Get Back In Line on the first listening. Lola is a good listen every once in a while. I like the idea behind Top Of The Pops. The Moneygoround - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. This Time Tomorrow is astounding. A Long Way From Home is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Kinks emotions are reflected through Rats. Apeman is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Powerman - Check out that bassline! This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Lola [bonus] [mono single version] is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Kinks ever produced. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Powerman [demo] - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem.
