After seeing Corcovado (Quiet Nights), I had to have a good Stan Getz cd. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Stan Getz has. It has been nine years Stan Getz’ last studio CD, “Stan Getz Meets Joao and Astrud Gilberto” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Stan Getz breathes new life into the music in O Pato. I find myself hearing bits of It Might As Well Be Spring here and there throughout my waking hours. Samba De Minha Terra makes a person feel amazing. One Note Samba is one of my favorite songs by Stan Getz. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Bim Bom is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The Singing Song motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. The Telephone Song - Stan Getz first major hit. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Eu E Voce is probably the most interesting track on Stan Getz Meets Joao and Astrud Gilberto. Rosa Moreno is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Stan Getz Meets Joao and Astrud Gilberto. Only Trusyt Your Heart is the first taste of the new album. Voice and instruments in Um Abraco No Bonfa complement each other. You have to get essence of the Stan’s Blues’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Meditation is probably the highlight of the album. Summertime is one of the best records ever. Six-nix-pix-flix stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty.
