After debuting at No. 1 last week, Stan Getz’s album The Bossa Nova Years (Girl from Ipanema) CD2 falls to No. 2 with 159,000, a sales slide of 73%. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Stan Getz. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Stan Getz comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Overall, I would highly recommend The Bossa Nova Years (Girl from Ipanema) CD2 CD.
Ebony Samba [First Version] is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. I came to like Tribute to Stan. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Bossa Nova Years (Girl from Ipanema) CD2. Stan Getz must have run out of lyrics on the next track So DanSamba (I Only Dance Samba). Insensatez (How Insensitive) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Stan Getz’s strong vocals come to the fore. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Opening track Samba de Duas Notas (Two Note Samba) shows the best of Stan Getz. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Menina Flor. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. I like Saudade Vem Correndo because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Um AbraNo Getz (A Tribute to Getz) presents the cool mix of instruments on The Bossa Nova Years (Girl from Ipanema) CD2.
