Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Stan Getz on ‘Girl from Ipanema’. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Stan Getz energies, virtually a rebirth. The Bossa Nova Years (Girl from Ipanema) CD4 is an amazing album, racked with beauty. This album is a scorcher!
In Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Stan Getz has yet to define own style. After you’ve listened to Menina Moca (Young Lady), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Once Again (Outra Vez) is another strong production from Stan Getz. Once you hear Winter Moon, you will listen to it over and over. Do What You Do, Do - This one is lively and fun. Samba da Sahra (Sahra’s Samba) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Stan Getz’s face. The song feels complete. Eu E Voce (Me and You) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Stan Getz is all about. Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) is absolutely incredible.
