After seeing Automatic, I had to have a good Less Than Jake cd. It has been fifteen years Less Than Jake’ last studio CD, “Bootleg A Bootleg, You Cut Out The Middleman: Live In Las Vegas” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. While no new Less Than Jake album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 0 tour in Australia. Bootleg A Bootleg, You Cut Out The Middleman: Live In Las Vegas is not something you should pass up.
Time and 1/2 On 2nd Ave and 6th St. / Econolodged pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Vocals of Less Than Jake in Happyman / 9th At Pine really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Johnny Quest Thinks We’re Sellouts which is my favorite is a truly Less Than Jake sounding song. I think Lockdown is the best song Less Than Jake has ever done. Leverne and Shirley - another great track from the Bootleg A Bootleg, You Cut Out The Middleman: Live In Las Vegas album. Charming song, great melody. Some of the arrangements found on Bootleg A Bootleg, You Cut Out The Middleman: Live In Las Vegas are surprisingly edgy. I was truly moved when I heard Jen. Big is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Less Than Jake breathes new life into the music in Sugar In Your Gas Tank. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. We’re Not Gonna Take It hits the heart.
