Since completing 1942’s ‘Minor Swing’, Django Reinhardt fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Django Reinhardt energies, virtually a rebirth. Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Django Reinhardt comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Djangology Imtied is the best essence of Django Reinhardt.
I like Beyond the Sea (La Mer) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Song Brick Top is actually a funny song. Django Reinhardt rocks harder than ever with Honeysuckle Rose. Heavy Artillery (Artillerie Lourde) is really the reason why I recommend buying Djangology Imtied. Djangology is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. After You’ve Gone is a medium tempo tune. Although Ou Es-Tu, Mon Amour? (Where Are You, My Love?) is very melodic it is far from sad. I Saw Stars is one of these floating songs. Lover Man stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Menilmontant is one of my favorite songs by Django Reinhardt. Swing ‘42 is one of the more up-tempo songs on Djangology Imtied.
