After debuting at No. 1 last week, Django Reinhardt’s album Hot Jazz: Le Hot Club de France, Vol. 1 falls to No. 2 with 420,000, a sales slide of 96%. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Django Reinhardt’s new album to that on ‘Hot Jazz: Le Hot Club de France, Vol. 1′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Hot Jazz: Le Hot Club de France, Vol. 1 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This is my first Django Reinhardt Album and i must say i am blown away.
A fantastic track full of wonder. Limehouse Blues is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This song may be the most meaningful. This song stands out greatly from the others. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Chicago (3:26) a good melody. I Got Rhythm actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Django Reinhardt’s face. I love the melodic melody of Oiseaux Des Iles and to this day it makes me feel good. Brick Top - For me, this is the best of the album. Some call Stompin’ At The Savoy from Hot Jazz: Le Hot Club de France, Vol. 1 as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. After you’ve listened to Nagasaki, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Hot Lips is probably the highlight of the album. Honeysuckle Rose (2:55) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. I like When Day Is Done because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Sweet Sue, Just You make listening to Django Reinhardt like being in some sort of time warp. Voice and instruments in Douce Ambiance complement each other. My Serenade is amazing song though, very addictive. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Stockholm is pretty funky and mellow. As always, Django Reinhardt’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I loved Sweet Georgia Brown the first time I heard it.
