There is no doubt that Jill Scott has talent. Since completing 2007’s ‘Love Rain (Coffee Shop Mix) - featuring Mos Def’, Jill Scott fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. While no new Jill Scott album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2007 tour in Asia. Jill Scott “Collaborations” is an amazing album.
The song Kingdom Come - featuring Kirk Franklin ending is my favorite… so catchy! The first time I listened to God Bless The Child - featuing Al Jarreau & George Benson I was struck by its excellent sound. The Rain - featuring Will Smith is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Jill Scott released so far. This track is a great song that still never gets old. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Some call Sometime I Wonder - featuring Darius Rucker from Collaborations as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. 8 Minutes To Sunrise - featuring Common without a doubt is the standout song of Collaborations. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. I love the melodic melody of One Time - featuring Eric Roberson and to this day it makes me feel good. Said Enough - featuring The Isley Brothers - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. It’s such an underrated song. Daydreamin’ - featuring Lupe Fiasco - This is a very lively song. Love Rain (Head Nod Remix) - featuring Mos Def is one of the more up-tempo songs on Collaborations.
