After debuting at No. 1 last week, Jane Birkin’s album Lolita Go Home falls to No. 2 with 901,000, a sales slide of 62%. When you buy a Jane Birkin album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Jane Birkin comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
It’s a great pleasure to listen to What Is This Thing Called Love? from the beginning to the end. Bebe Song actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Jane Birkin’s face. Where or When is the albums biggest surprise. Although Si Peut Te Consoler is very melodic it is far from sad. It’s such an underrated song. Just Me and You - My least favorite song on this album. Fille aux Claquettes is a bit different from Jane Birkin stereotypical stuff. Rien Pour Rien is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Lolita Go Home. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Lolita Go Home. Album opener There’s a Small Hotel is a bright, upbeat ditty.
