Lead single “Nite Becomes Day” and “Pablo Picasso” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Clarence Greenwood Recordings is an amazing album, racked with beauty.twelve years ago, Citizen Cope briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Pablo Picasso”. This is my first Citizen Cope Album and i must say i am blown away.
Pablo Picasso is almost impossible to review. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Son’s Gonna Rise is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Sideways is a good listen every once in a while. Penitentiary rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. The sound of Hurricane Waters is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Vocals of Citizen Cope in D’Artagnan’s Theme really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Bullet and A Target is simply perfect. Listening to Fame you can hear that Citizen Cope has still amazing chemistry with band members. Deep - A catchy, upbeat tune.
