This album has some very good songs like Introduction Instrumentale and Afrique Adieu. Since Michel Sardou last CD (Palais Des Congres 83) on Columbia Records back in 0, I have felt a massive void in my life. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Michel Sardou comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Palais Des Congres 83 is the best essence of Michel Sardou.
Afrique Adieu is simple, dignified and effective, Michel Sardou refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Je Viens Du Sud very upbeat. Victoria as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Palais Des Congres 83 is Merci… Pour Tout (Merci Papa). I listened to the opening track Musica and liked it a lot. Je Vole is the album’s biggest hit, I think. What sets Lanatole (Hommage A Charles Trenet) apart is Michel Sardou’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Le Surveillant General is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with La Maldie Damour. Les Annees 30 is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. As always, Michel Sardou’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Vivant is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Si Jetais defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Vocals of Michel Sardou in Lautre Femme really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Les Villes De Solitude - arguably the best track on Palais Des Congres 83 album. Dix Ans Plus Tot - another great track from the Palais Des Congres 83 album. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Le Temps Des Colonies is a song to enjoy for years to come. I think Un Roi Barbare is the best song Michel Sardou has ever done. A fantastic track full of wonder. I believe Etre Une Femme is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written. Album opener Les Lacs Du Connemara is a bright, upbeat ditty. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. atlantique is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Michel Sardou released so far. Les Balkans et la Provence is pretty funky and mellow. A italienne is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. This track is full of harmonies and gets Palais Des Congres 83 off to a relaxing start. In Elle sen va de moi full palet of sound is used by Michel Sardou to accentuate the presentation. La chanteuse de rock have really caught my ear and imagination. Les bateaux du courrier is one of these floating songs. If you are a Michel Sardou fan, you will love Lan mil. Si lon revient moins riches can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Michel Sardou is all about. Song Bire et fraulein is actually a funny song. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin.
