For older fans Hello Paris - Anthologie Vol 2 will put a massive smile accross your face. This is my first Petula Clark Album and i must say i am blown away.
I like the agression and power of J’ai deux amours. Les amoureux des bancs publics sets the tone for the entire album. Vous qui passez sans me voir on Hello Paris - Anthologie Vol 2 is solid and easy to listen to. The sound in Le gamin de Paris is really warm and Petula Clark’s signature voice is still very much present. Charming song, great melody. Boum is the albums biggest surprise. I find myself hearing bits of Pette fleur here and there throughout my waking hours. Petula Clark is one of artists that allow his songs like La mer to stand on their own and be heard. In Mon homme it becomes nowhere more obvious that Petula Clark has yet to define own style. Les feuilles mortes I just LOVE this mix! It’s a great pleasure to listen to C’est si bon from the beginning to the end. Chez moi is the song that really did it for me. The song feels complete. Couchs dans le foin - Petula Clark first major hit. After few listenings I started to like Parlez moi d’amour more and more. Symphonie make listening to Petula Clark like being in some sort of time warp. Sous les toits de Paris is worth the money. La vie en rose is beautiful, yet underrated track. Darling, je vous aime beaucoup is one of the best records ever. Pigalle is astounding. Cerisier rose et pommier blanc - For me, this is the best of the album. Hello Paris - Anthologie Vol 2 couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Clopin clopant.
