Since completing 0’s ‘Roses From The South’, Strauss fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It has been twelve years Strauss’ last studio CD, “The Greatest Hits (Cd2)” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Self-described as Classical with lots of words, Strauss comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Wine, women and Song is one of these floating songs. There is excellent mix of music in Pizzicato Polka. Tritsch, Tratsch - This one makes me want to not only sing along. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. In “The Gypsy Baron” Waltz full palet of sound is used by Strauss to accentuate the presentation. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Greatest Hits (Cd2). Acceleration Waltz is absolutely incredible.
