On Todo Gardel 1927 Vol.2 album, Carlos Gardel have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Carlos Gardel’s new album to that on ‘Todo Gardel 1927 Vol.2′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lead single “Companero” and “La violetera” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
From the moment you listen to La violetera you’re hooked. Paginas de amor which is my favorite is a truly Carlos Gardel sounding song. La entrerriana - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Gimiendo - To me, this is the best song on the Todo Gardel 1927 Vol.2. Micifuz is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Amurado very upbeat. A la luz del candil on Todo Gardel 1927 Vol.2 is solid and easy to listen to. Rosas de abril is pretty funky and mellow. You have to get essence of the Salto mortal’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. El trovero (yo te imploro) - Check out that bassline! Caminito defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Farolito viejo - Carlos Gardel first major hit. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Todo Gardel 1927 Vol.2. La gayola is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. I can’t stop humming along Sonrisas. Carlos Gardel sings his heart out in Arrabalero.
