Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Carlos Gardel’s new album to that on ‘Todo Gardel 1928-1929′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There is so much to love about Carlos Gardel, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Carlos Gardel on ‘Barra querida’. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Refucilos is Carlos Gardel’s best work in years. Still going through Todo Gardel 1928-1929 and coming to appreciate Traicionera more and more with every listen. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Voice of Carlos Gardel in Bandoneon arrabalero is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Song Marioneta is actually a funny song. Carlos Gardel sings his heart out in Mentirosa. The sound in Farabute is really warm and Carlos Gardel’s signature voice is still very much present. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Todo Gardel 1928-1929. I was truly moved when I heard Te aconsejo que me olvides. Pobre mi gaucha (2:57) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Medianoche is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Carlos Gardel released so far. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Patadura is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Senda Florida is nothing but pure genius. Lo han visto con otra is the first taste of the new album. In Pobre pato it becomes nowhere more obvious that Carlos Gardel has yet to define own style. I came to like Anoranzas. Todavia hay otarios is one of my favorite songs by Carlos Gardel. Lyrics of Tengo miedo are precise and evocative. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Cruz de palo is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Se llama mujer - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. When I listen to Por que me das dique in my car when traffic ain’t going so good.
