For older fans Todo Gardel 1930 Vol.2 will put a massive smile accross your face. nine years ago, Carlos Gardel briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Pobre gallo bataraz”. Now signed to Carlos Gardel’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “Todo Gardel 1930 Vol.2″ leads Carlos Gardel’s back-to-school campaign. Todo Gardel 1930 Vol.2 is not something you should pass up.
Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. The sound in La pena del payador is really warm and Carlos Gardel’s signature voice is still very much present. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Knock-out de amor. Song Gacho gris is actually a funny song. Canchero to me is the best you can get from Carlos Gardel. La mariposa which is my favorite is a truly Carlos Gardel sounding song. Lo han visto con otra is a very catchy tune. As de carton is the more seemingly obscure song on Todo Gardel 1930 Vol.2 that bear up best to repeated listening. Such hits like Un ano mas will leave you hooked. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. There is gorgeous mix of music in Pordioseros. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is En la tranquera. Aquellas farras presents the excellent mix of instruments on Todo Gardel 1930 Vol.2. Colorao colorao is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Padrino pelao - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Once you hear Enfunda la mandolina, you will listen to it over and over. Una lagrima one is one of the better boring ones. Contramarca - This one makes me want to not only sing along. I now have Dicen que dicen as one of my personal favorites. Viejo Smoking is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. I like the agression and power of Juventud.
