There is no doubt that Ella Fitzgerald has talent. Since completing 2007’s ‘Lullaby Of Birdland’, Ella Fitzgerald fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It has been nine years Ella Fitzgerald’ last studio CD, “Lullabies of Birdland” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. If you love Ella Fitzgerald as much as I do, then Ella Fitzgerald Lullabies of Birdland is the CD for you!
Rough Ridin’ - Check out that bassline! Such hits like Angel Eyes will leave you hooked. Smooth Sailing is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Although Oh, Lady Be Good! is very melodic it is far from sad. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. I listened to the opening track Ella Hums the Blues and liked it a lot. How High the Moon? has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Ella Fitzgerald’s strong vocals come to the fore. Basin Street Blues is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Some of the arrangements found on Lullabies of Birdland are surprisingly edgy. Flying Home is perfect.
