Now signed to Ella Fitzgerald’s Blue Note Records, the title track from second album “Porgy And Bess” leads Ella Fitzgerald’s back-to-school campaign. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Ella Fitzgerald energies, virtually a rebirth. After seeing Overture, I had to have a good Ella Fitzgerald cd. IT makes me wanna dance!
Summertime is one of these floating songs. I Want To Stay Here - A nice song. Ella Fitzgerald breathes new life into the music in My Man Is Gone Now. I now have I Got Plenty Of Nothing as one of my personal favorites. Once you hear Buzzard Song, you will listen to it over and over. Bess You Is My Woman Now is probably the highlight of the album. It Ain`t Necessarily So - A catchy, upbeat tune. If you are a Ella Fitzgerald fan, you will love What You Want With Bess. A Woman Is A Sometime Thing is almost impossible to review. A great put together song. I like Medley- Honey Man Strawberry Woman because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. There Is A Boat That Is Leaving is a great opener for Porgy And Bess. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely.
