I hope to keep hearing Ella Fitzgerald works for a long time to come. Within the first few notes of A Ship Without a Sail it’s perfectly clear that Ella Fitzgerald is living this song. To Keep My Love Alive marked the continuation of Ella Fitzgerald in style evolution. Dancing on the Ceiling is the album’s biggest hit, I think. When listening to The Lady Is a Tramp, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. With a Song in My Heart is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Ella Fitzgerald ever produced. Manhattan - arguably the best track on Sings the Rodgers and Hart Song album. Opening track Johnny One Note shows the best of Ella Fitzgerald. Such hits like I Wish I Were in Love Again will leave you hooked. Spring Is Here is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. It Never Entered My Mind is pretty funky and mellow. This Can’t Be Love is a striking and quite long song. Thou Swell without a doubt is the standout song of Sings the Rodgers and Hart Song. Where or When - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Ella Fitzgerald. Little Girl Blue motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Give It Back to the Indians is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. There’s a Small Hotel is exquisite work of Ella Fitzgerald. I Didn’t Know What Time It Was is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Ev’rything I’ve Got is another strong production from Ella Fitzgerald. In I Could Write a Book Ella Fitzgerald is at his best. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is The Blue Room because the melody in the chorus is so good. The opening track My Funny Valentine is very much like you would expect from other albums. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ella Fitzgerald. Mountain Greenery is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Sings the Rodgers and Hart Song have ended. Music of Wait Till You See Her is gentle, never overbearing. Lover [Stereo Take] is astounding. Isn’t It Romantic? is the albums biggest surprise. Here in My Arms which is my favorite is a truly Ella Fitzgerald sounding song. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. The first time I listened to My Heart Stood Still I was struck by its gorgeous sound. I think I’ve Got Five Dollars is the best song Ella Fitzgerald has ever done. Ella Fitzgerald sings Lover [Monaural Take] in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved.
