On The Best Of The Song Books album, Ella Fitzgerald have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Ella Fitzgerald had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. nine years ago, Ella Fitzgerald briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Between the Devil and the Dee”. This album is in perfect progression from Ella Fitzgerald!
Between the Devil and the Dee is nothing but pure genius. Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewil is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This song is dynamic and dramatic. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. You can find feelings on this piece of art. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Ella Fitzgerald breathes new life into the music in I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Wa. Ella Fitzgerald is hitting on all cylinders in Love Is Here to Stay. You have to get essence of the Love for Sale’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on The Best Of The Song Books is Miss Otis Regrets. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. The Lady Is a Tramp is the first taste of the new album. I find myself hearing bits of They Can’t Take That Away from here and there throughout my waking hours. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin.
