Since completing 2007’s ‘La Cabane Du Pecheur’, Francis Cabrel fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lead single “La Cabane Du Pecheur” and “La Corrida” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. eleven years ago, Francis Cabrel briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “La Corrida”. L’ Essentiel 1977-2007 (cd2) is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
La Corrida the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. This track is clearly meant to showcase Francis Cabrel’s vocal abilities. Octobre is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Samedi Soir Sur La Terre gives good insight into the truths. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Hors-Saison rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Le Monde Est Sourd - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. I was truly moved when I heard Les Passantes. Quand J’aime Une Fois J’aime Pour Toujours - A catchy, upbeat tune. Les Gens Absents (5:05) a good melody. Elle Dort make listening to Francis Cabrel like being in some sort of time warp. Lyrics of Bonne Nouvelle are precise and evocative. Gardien De Nuit is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Francis Cabrel ever produced. In Les Yeux Bleus Pleurant Sous La Pluie Francis Cabrel spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Le Gorille is a perfect song and it grows on you.
