This disc has all of the essential Neil Sedaka classics. There is no doubt that Neil Sedaka has talent. Neil Sedaka’s debut, ‘50 And 60′, does not fit easily into one genre. To me Neil Sedaka is the best band ever.
Baby Blue - arguably the best track on 50 And 60 album. Bad Blood is the song that really did it for me. Breaking Up Is Hard To Do sets the tone for the entire album. Breaking Up is almost impossible to review. The song feels complete. Some call Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You from 50 And 60 as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. The sound of Diana is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I Am A Song - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. After you’ve listened to La Notte E’ Fatta Per Amare, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Little Devil - a classic song. Lonely Night (Angel Face) Bornnude is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Song Love Will Keep Us Together is actually a funny song. This song stands out greatly from the others. Next Door To An Angel is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Oh Carol Better Version is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Once Oh! Carol(1960) gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Poetry In Motion is the albums biggest surprise. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Best song on the album, love it. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Stairway To Heaven is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through 50 And 60. Standing On The Inside is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Stupid Cupid - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. The Immigrant is the albums biggest surprise. Viene La Notte is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined.
